It's pretty pathetic that almost 5 years after 9/11, that this quote would actually be in print, "This terminal should have had much better security," said Art Wong, spokesman for the Port of Long Beach. "This is something that we're going to have to take a look at."
The vulnerability of the port and the need for increased security has been discussed ad nauseam since 9/11, but it appears that is all that has been done - talk.
The port has also been out in the community selling their "Clean Air Action Plan" (see http://www.mybelmontheights.org/node/114 - last public meeting tonight); makes you wonder if they will ever implement the plan. If the threat of a terrorist attack is not enough to compel action on the security front, what is going to compel them to act on the environmental front?
