City Ordinance affecting Historical Districts

Here is the link to the city municipal code that established the Cultural Heritage Commission: http://municipalcodes.lexisnexis.com/codes/longbeach/_DATA/TITLE02/Chapter_2_63_CULTURAL_HERITAGE.html It is this section of code that provides for the establishment of Historic Districts among other things. This is important because it essentially sits above a specific historic district ordinance in the hierarchy of code. Think of it as federal law and the specific historic district ordinance as state law (yeah, I know, that's pretty simplified). This particular city ordinance is in the process of being updated by the city's Historic Preservation Officer (subject to city council approval). I will post more on this as things change, but for anyone interested at all in the Historic District, this is "the letter of the law." Paul
