Air Pollution Board Supports More
Stringent Emissions Standards for Cabrillo Port

The Ventura County Air Pollution Control Board has
unanimously voted that BHP Billiton's Cabrillo Port LNG terminal, proposed
for offshore California, should adhere to the same air quality standards
established for onshore facilities. "What is good for the emitters on land
is also good for the emitters at sea," said County Supervisor John Flynn.
Critics of the project have objected to the EPA's decision to exempt the
terminal from the more stringent emissions standards for onshore
facilities. Proponents of the terminal protested the county panel's
ruling, calling it a delay tactic. The Ventura County Star has the story. [Free
