Broadway Traffic Calming and Street Improvements - How it was approached

Attached is the formal letter that really started a positive dialogue with the Traffic Department, Fire Department and Third District Councilman. We try to be proactive by identifying the problem, and discussing solutions that may or may not work or be appropriate to the neighborhood. Becoming emotional does not seem to serve a positive process. Including examples to help the community visualize problems and solutions is important. Having the support from non residents, in our case St. Bartholomew's Church and Lowell Elementary focuses the problem into a community wide issue.

Broadway Project: open letter

I noticed that the City Council approved the recommendation to to authorize and administer the documents to accept and expend the MTA grant funds. I was curious to know if the project proposal that we submit on behalf of the neighborhood association was included in the list. I am speaking specifically of the proposal to develop a landscaped median on Broadway, between Park Ave. and Nieto St..

Any information you could give me would be much appreciated. I hope you had nice holiday season, and that you're off to a good new year. Thank you for all your efforts...
