Preface by Mike Stewart: This was posted in an effort to ensure that everyone in the neighborhood that is interested in Neighborhood Preservation is aware of activities by the sub-committee. They are a very active group very interested in community involvement. If you are unaware of recent activities and would like to be more involved, please contact Marc Coleman or Maureen Neely. This event was posted exclusievly in the Neighborhood Preservation Committee Group. ONLY members of the group have access to view this event posting.

In one of the fastest appointments settings on record, Councilmember DeLong has agreed to meet with us on Sunday January 28 at 4pm at Marc Coleman's house. (please contact Marc for Address and any items you may like included on the agenda).
For those of you who weren't at the meeting last night, BHCA Preservation Committee members discussed this meeting being a first opportunity to talk with the Councilmember about the issue and walk around a little bit to see the good, bad and the ugly. We're inclined to keep the discussion at this point focused on the dimensions of the problem, leaving possible solutions for a later point after we've collected our information and heard more from the City and community.
We were requested to send an email explaining the purpose of the meeting, etc and I sent the following.
Anne--
The Neighborhood Preservation Committee of the Belmont Heights Community Association (BHCA) would like to meet informally with the Councilman to talk about the issue of "mansionization" ( teardowns and overremodels of older homes) in Belmont Heights. We recently sent a letter to City staff requesting information on this issue and BHCA will be holding a community-wide forum on the issue on February 28th.
We would like to meet on a Sunday afternoon, either January 28th or February 11th at 4 or 4:30 pm while it's still light so we can walk and see examples of the problem. We would like to meet at my house, 212 Termino. There are nine members of the committee and most if not all would like to be there.
You can reach me via email or at my office, xxx-xxxx or home xxx-xxxx.

Definitely. Anyone who would like to come to Neighborhood Preservation Committee meetings (only once a month generally) should feel free to call me at 433-3056 or Maureen at 438-4687. We have nine active members and can always use more help, especially as we have the community forum on mansionization of the Heights coming up on Feb. 28. We'll continue to post minutes.
