Talk about the Breakwater

I read an interesting article about bringing surf back to Long Beach.
The article was written in a (fairly new) local magazine called The District. Take a look when you have a chance. www.lbsurfrider.org has a poll and some interesting stuff to read on the subject too - such as sand erosion on the peninsula has increased since the breakwater was created!
Breaking the Breakers
I learned something very interesting last night that apparently not a lot of people know. The sand in the Peninsula is eroding more than if the breakers weren't there?
I think it's something we should learn more about. I agree Long Beach should have its surfing back. At the very least, it deserves open water and not be stuck with two rivers dumping into closed water.
