About the Event

Every September, Long Beach comes together for Long Beach Gives—a citywide, 24-hour day of giving that highlights the local projects making our neighborhoods thrive. This year, the Belmont Heights Community Association (BHCA) is raising funds for two vital initiatives that capture the true spirit of Belmont Heights: preserving our shared history and supporting one another.

Saving Our Historic Belmont Ave Lampposts

The vintage gas lamp-style posts along Belmont Avenue are a cherished part of our streetscape, but rust and time are catching up. While city budget deficits mean we can't rely on municipal funding right now, we aren't waiting around while our historic resources deteriorate.

  • Leading by Example: By raising funds to restore the most at-risk posts ourselves, we send a powerful, clear message to City Hall: Belmont Heights cares deeply about its history and we are dead serious about protecting it.

  • Leverage for the Future: Taking direct action today preserves these character-defining details now and gives us strong community leverage to advocate for full city support once the budget recovers. At roughly $900 per post, every dollar raised proves our collective commitment.

Make a Difference Day 2027

Every spring, BHCA hosts Make a Difference Day—a neighborhood-wide day of service grounded in the simple belief that we are at our best when we help each other.

  • The Vision: This day goes beyond a single afternoon of volunteering; it serves as a matchmaker, connecting enthusiastic neighbors with local nonprofits in need of hands-on help.

  • Long-Term Connection: Funding raised now helps us cover logistics and outreach to build lasting, year-round volunteer relationships across Long Beach.

How You Can Participate

  • Donate Online: Visit our campaign page on giving day Sept 24 (or during early giving starting Sept 17) to show your support for our streets and our community.

  • Spread the Word: Share our campaign with your Belmont Heights neighbors, friends, and local businesses to help amplify our neighborhood's voice.

  • Sign the Petition!

Let's do what Belmont Heights does best: stepping up to care for our history, advocate for our streets, and support each other.
