Why are you interested in this position?
I am interested in this position because I am tired of seeing pay-to-play politics dominate city hall instead of real solutions for working families.
What relative experience do you have in this career field?
After graduating UC Berkeley Law School and returning home I began advocating for working families by launching a campaign against the first Measure A Sales Tax hike. Through yard signs, Long Beach Business Journal ads and social media videos I fought the tax hike ballot measure because I believed it would hurt local families, hurt small businesses and would not keep its promises on police, homelessness or fixing potholes. After losing the fight the Mayor himself acknowledged my effort and urged me to continue advocating for the City. Since then I have not ceased fighting for local families.
What are 3 changes you would like to make while in office?
Get Rid of Dirty Money from Mayor's office
Reduce Homelessness and Clean Park Bathrooms
Reduce Long Beach Crime
What are your top priorities for small businesses ?
Reducing the sales tax and clean sidewalks and allies.
What are your top 3 goals or concerns for District 3?
Common Sense Homelessness Solutions
Bring Back Police Academies
Fight SB9 over crowding zoning laws
How would you address people who are concerned about the City and States Affordable Housing plan and its impact on their neighborhood?
I opposed SB-9. It works against Long Beach families. I have already gone to Sacramento to voice my concern and as Mayor I will use the office to fight harder for our local culture here in Long Beach.
Do you have plans to strengthen Homeless Outreach Programs such as the Quality of Life Team, Project Homekey/Roomkey, etc...? Do you have ideas of your own you would like to implement?
The current system is broken. As mayor I will support a forensic audit of homelessness services so we can find the gaps, bring in an actual homelessness expert and block all efforts to allow special interest to profit from homelessness instead of fixing it.
What plan do you support/propose for The Queen Mary?
Our city neglected the Queen Mary to the point of decades of disrepair. We can’t afford to keep her when crime, homelessness, potholes and park bathrooms are so bad city wide. I will work to find the Queen Mary a proper home and focus on city assets that will help us keep the lights on in Long Beach instead of burying us in debt.
