Why are you interested in this position?
The fact that we keep Housing homeless without providing jobs or training and we are 65M in debt is a problem. The fact that the city is built on oil and is sinking at such a rate we have to fill the hole in the ocean with water to keep the city from sinking means that the city will be under water within a 100 years without proper maintenance. How do we have only 12% of people working in Long Beach and 66% of our children graduate from high school and 62% of them graduate from college but 88% of the city has to drive 30 minutes away for work . Even in Compton, California, the kids go across the street from King high school to Martin Luther King Hospital to get some type of hands-on training in the field since that is their closest resource (MLK Hospital )how do we have an ocean at our fingertip and so many unfulfilled high paying jobs/ careers in the city of Long Beach and our kids do not even know why they should not put Styrofoam in the water.
What relative experience do you have in this career field?
I graduated at the age of 16 and I rank in the top 20% in the admittance exam at Southwest College. I’ve managed several high profile companies and volunteer daily with non - profits such as the Long Beach Food Coalition Team in Los Angeles Oasis Church.. But at this point candidates with past experience is what got us in this trouble. We have wrestlers as Mayors, Terminators as Governors (cheats on his wife, impregnate the nanny, and denies his child) actors as presidents and were still chasing familiarity. I have enough experience to understand that if we want to change our current circumstances, we must be willing to change our old philosophy.
What are 3 changes you would like to make while in office?
The fact that people work 40hrs a week and can’t afford to live by themselves.
To make intern training programs with Big Corporations in our city mandatory for our high school [and] college student’s and homeless.
Open back up the oil sites to pay for more public safety and EMS services that have been depleted to ease the burden off of taxpayers.
What are 3 goals or main concerns you have for Belmont Heights?
Open up a recycling center that will be owned by the city that will pay for emergency services that we desperately need.
That we are housing homeless at rundown motels that no one will stay at but taxpayers are paying top dollar.
To implement intern programs with local unions in the city with students who are actively enrolled in LBUSD.
What are your specific plans to engage with the Belmont Heights business corridors?
We need to hold monthly live meetings at local hubs with citizens ,business owners and city leaders for citizens to invest back within the city. We need to create recycling center and make a contract with the port, LBUSD and local business owners to utilize and profit off of all the waste from the city.
Belmont Heights has 2 historic districts. What plans or initiatives that you have been involved with or know of that will benefit our historic districts?
The the fact is fraud is so bad within this city that it’s almost designed for one generation to pay for property and the next generation to loose it because they can’t keep up with the high property taxes and inflation at this point. Historical Districts will be gone within 20 years and what sense would it make to have historical districts if the people who have historic lineage can’t afford to keep their homes and live there. We must ensure that the city and Big Companies alike that are within our District and city hire our children for the high paying jobs and careers they will need to keep the District alive and historic.
What is an innovative way you plan to involve the community in your decisions?
I’ve been volunteering spreading the word, passing out flyers, posting Signs for the past five years. I’ve been doing it so much that I’ve had people that I am running against called the FPPC on me. I believe involving the citizens with leadership’s decisions regarding the areas where they live in work is an essential part of a successful society.
How have you engaged with the Belmont Heights Community Association in the past...and how do you plan on working with our
team in the future in a way that will help us improve our neighborhood?
I’ve reached out to several groups trying to help, but I’ve only had the pleasure of working with the Long Beach Food Coalition Team 3-4 days a week, the elderly fraud stammer prevention meetings we held at 5100 E. Toledo at the Belmont shore Church and neighbors who participate with the safe-neighborhood watch what in our community. I am always willing and eager to help and participate.
