You don't need to be a corporate CFO to serve as our treasurer— If you are organized, comfortable handling basic numbers, and passionate about giving back to Belmont Heights, you already have the most important qualifications.

The Belmont Heights Community Association (BHCA) is run by dedicated local neighbors who volunteer their time, energy, and skills to improve the quality of life in our neighborhood. From hosting family-friendly events and monthly community meetings to publishing our quarterly newsletter distributed to over 3,000 residents, everything we do relies on neighbor-led effort.

To keep our 501(c)(3) organization running smoothly, we are currently searching for a volunteer Treasurer to join our team!

What Does a Small Nonprofit Treasurer Do?

You don't need to be a corporate CFO to serve as our treasurer—we are a local, grassroots nonprofit organization! If you are organized, comfortable handling basic numbers, and passionate about giving back to Belmont Heights, you already have the most important qualifications.

Core Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain clear records of basic income and expenses (such as event revenue, membership dues, newsletter ad revenue, and vendor payments).

  • Budgeting & Reporting: Prepare a simple annual budget with board input and share brief financial updates at monthly board meetings.

  • Banking & Bill Pay: Manage the association's bank account, issue disbursements for approved expenses, and deposit incoming donations or payments.

  • Basic Compliance: Ensure annual tax filings and state registration renewals are completed on time.

  • Board Engagement: Attend monthly community and board meetings to help guide financial decision-making for local initiatives.

Serving as treasurer is a rewarding way to directly support community projects—whether that’s funding neighborhood block parties, organizing greenbelt cleanups, or delivering local news to your neighbors' front doors. It’s a great opportunity to build local connections, lend your expertise, and make a tangible impact right where you live.
