Newsletter Delivery Captain
Help Us Pass the Baton (and the Boxes!)
If you’ve ever enjoyed flipping through a fresh copy of the BHCA Newsletter on your porch, you know how much heart goes into keeping Belmont Heights connected. Every quarter, a handful of dedicated neighborhood volunteers walk block by block to deliver those pages right to your door. But behind every smooth delivery run is one essential role: our Newsletter Delivery Captain.
Right now, this crucial position is being handled by our BHCA President. While leadership comes with many hats, running the entire association and managing our newsletter logistics is one hat too many. Our President deserves to pass this baton—and we need a passionate neighbor to step up and help take this off his plate!
What Does the Newsletter Delivery Captain Do?
Don't worry—you won't have to walk every block yourself! This role is all about light organization, simple communication, and providing a central drop-off spot just four times a year:
Host the Hub: Receive a delivery of about a dozen boxes from our printer once a quarter. Having a porch, covered driveway, or accessible entryway is key here so block volunteers can swing by for easy, contactless pickups on their own schedule.
Manage the Roster: Maintain a straightforward spreadsheet of our delivery routes and the wonderful neighbors who walk them.
Coordinate & Confirm: Send out a quick batch of emails before each issue to confirm which volunteers are ready to walk.
Fill the Gaps: If a walker is out of town or steps down, help recruit a neighbor to fill in for that quarter.
Why Stepping Up Matters
This is one of the most high-impact ways to serve the Belmont Heights Community Association with a minimal, periodic time commitment. Because publication only happens four times a year, the effort is brief, manageable, and fits easily into a busy schedule. Plus, you’ll be directly supporting the neighborhood network that makes our community so special.
If you have a porch, love a good spreadsheet, and want to help give our President a well-earned break, we would be thrilled to welcome you aboard!
